How We Can Help You

One company, multiple waste management solutions

Cliniwaste are true innovators in clinical waste management. We partner with NHS and healthcare providers to deliver entire services from pre-auditing, collection, handling and disposal – right through to training and compliance. We champion all areas of clinical waste management, with a particular emphasis on Alternative (ALT) Treatment.

At the heart of what we do is sustainability and affordability. Our operations drive down landfill waste, using the best technology to provide alternative treatment to clinical and hazardous waste that eliminates risk. By harnessing ALT treatments, more waste can be diverted to energy recovery rather than disposed at landfill sites.

Who we service in clinical waste management

Cliniwaste’s primary focus is specialising in clinical waste management on behalf of NHS Trusts nationwide. Across our sites, we have the capacity to handle thousands of tonnes of waste every year at our licensed Shotts, Newcastle and Nottingham waste treatment facilities.

Cliniwaste is all about versatility: we also service smaller clinical waste producers, including university labs, First Aid rooms in schools, together with private clinics, podiatrists and chiropodists, hospices, care homes and respite centres.

Processes that go above and beyond clinical waste disposal

Our services are expertly tailored to your requirements and will involve a pre-audit consultation for clinical waste disposal. Cliniwaste is experienced in consulting and training people on waste management and labelling. A key strength in this area is educating clinical staff on the Waste Hierarchy so they know how to properly label hazardous and non-hazardous clinical waste for collection.

Hazardous waste cannot be sent to landfill until the hazards are eliminated. ALT treatment of clinical waste eliminates biohazards. High-temperature treatment can also be used to completely destroy clinical waste. For this, incinerators are used which operate with temperatures of at least 700 degrees C. For carcinogenic waste, the secondary chamber reaches temperatures of up to 1,100 degrees C.

Our business is all about sustainable waste management that encompasses robust protocols for zero waste and a high focus on energy recovery by diverting waste from landfill. We make collections using our own fleet of vehicles and at times that work best for our clients.

Technology to handle your waste with care

We appreciate that your waste needs can only be met if we use the latest technology. Our founders are award-winners for pioneering the disposal of healthcare waste by microwave sterilisation. Your organisation will benefit from Bondtech technology that operates at our three UK sites (Shotts, Newcastle and Nottingham). Each site has technologically advanced autoclave systems that boast a combined capacity of over 12 tonnes of clinical waste per hour – that’s among the highest in Britain!

Aiming for a zero-waste strategy

You’ll be pleased to know that our company values complement our zero-waste strategy. But we don’t just talk about them, we embody them. Our management team partner with clients to provide waste training in segregation, and labelling and colour-coding containers. Cliniwaste handles the disposal of clinical waste in the most environmentally sustainable method possible, aiming to send as little material as possible to landfill. Instead, we use ALT treatment to eliminate biohazards, rendering the waste suitable for energy.

Duty of care audit for clinical waste producers

A superior aspect of Cliniwaste is that we do much more than move clinical waste from A to B. If you’re a clinical waste producer, our professionals will help you to remain compliant with waste regulations for all clinical waste streams – from the point of waste source to final disposal, cradle to grave.

We will work with you to ensure you can accurately describe your waste, label it and use the correct colour coding. Consignment notes are provided for all hazardous waste collected and Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs) are issues for non-hazardous materials.

Following a pre-audit assessment, we make arrangements to safely pack, store and collect clinical waste on a time scale that suits your requirements, then we select the most sustainable method of disposal. We strive to allow this to be a simple and compliant process from start to finish for all our clients regardless of size.

As a waste producer, you’ll be able to see historical records, proving responsible waste management practises were used from the point of waste production to the point of sustainable disposal.

And the key advantage? Cliniwaste will help your healthcare facility reduce its carbon footprint by using ALT treatment methods to eliminate biohazards. Our approach reduces the amount of waste being sent to landfill by increasing waste quantities used for energy recovery. Our main objective is to contribute to a greener, cleaner future.
